“VAIVENES” is a special 3-hour workshop @ MIT

Sponsored by Spouses & Partners @ MIT

Join us as we delve into the enchanting world of vaivenes, those walking steps with subtle swinging movements that infuse the dance with passion, rhythm, and connection. From the gentle sway of the body to the intricate shifts in weight, you’ll discover how vaivenes breathe life into your dance, shaping the unique character of tango. Learn to seamlessly integrate vaivenes into your movements with grace and precision. Enhance your musicality by mastering the art of interpreting rhythms, melodies, and phrasing through dynamic variations. Practice leading and following with sensitivity and responsiveness, deepening your connection with your dance partner. Finally, use the vaivenes you’ll learn to explore the possibilities of improvisation and creativity in your dance. This special 3-hour workshop is designed for seasoned intermediate/advanced dancers, but all dancers can benefit from the material covered in the class.

Both series are intermediate level and we highly recommend signing up for both. In his classes Javier focuses on technique and connection with the partner. His students praise him for the exceptional personal attention that he provides even in group classes, and for his patience and warm sense of humor. Don’t miss it!!! **For discounts for both series, early registration incentive and more information about Javier please see below.

ABOUT JAVIER: Javier is one of Buenos Aires’s newer generation of tango instructors. Grounded, sensual, and musical, in the past twenty five years he has taught classes throughout the U.S. , Japan and Spain, as well as in Buenos Aires, where he lives. Javier’s fluid and intimate style of dancing seamlessly integrates a variety of influences, making his insights valuable whether you consider yourself a devotee of milonguero style or a nuevo tango renegade. Rarer still is his practical understanding of how the body moves and of how to communicate complex concepts to students of all levels. See Javier dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BknTPljsgAw
