5 MONDAYS, Jan 30 – Feb 27:

7:30 – 9 pm: “Essential Concepts and Figures for Social Dancing”, adv. beginner/intermediate”

This course is designed to enable you to smoothly and confidently lead and follow full dances using basic elements. It will also cover half turns, calesitas, and variations on crosses, ochos, and paradas commonly used in social dancing. Upon completion of this series participants will be ready to continue to our intermediate/adv. class. All participants must have completed a Fundamentals of Tango course or the equivalent.

LOCATION: TangoAffair Studio, 9 Union Street in Cambridge. Up to 4 free parking slots available on the first come first serve basis; otherwise plenty of parking along Hampshire St.

ADMISSION: $125 per person for the whole series or $225 for a couple. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

5 TUESDAYS, Jan 31 – Feb 28:

7:30 – 9:00pm: “Modern Moves from the Old Masters”, intermediate/advanced

We will be studying the aesthetics, musicality, and some timeless signature moves and adornments of the old masters, such as Gerardo Portalea, Pedro “Toto” Faraldo, and Mingo Pugliese, among others.

 

LOCATION: TangoAffair Studio, 9 Union Street in Cambridge, between Inman Sq. and MIT. Up to 4 free parking slots available on the first come first serve basis; otherwise plenty of parking along Hampshire St.

ADMISSION: $ 150 per person for the whole series or $270 for a couple. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

In this 6-class course we will delve in depth into various techniques and elements necessary for social dancing. It will improve your technical and musical accuracy and teach you how to combine elements to create fluid, musical and fun sequences!

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: Masks are optional in the studio. TangoAffair studio is 400 sq ft, has cathedral ceilings, and it is equipped with a medical grade HEPA filter that is calculated to the volume of the room. If the weather is nice we will keep the studio double-door to the garden open.

5 MONDAYS, Oct 17 – Nov 14 (register by Oct 15, 6pm)

7:00 – 8:00 pm: “Fundamentals of Argentine Tango”

Learn the basics of this attractive and sensual dance! Connection, walking, posture, and basic elements like cross, ochos, and simple turns. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as dancers with some experience who wish to perfect the basics.

LOCATION: Gallery Studio at the Cambridge Community Center for Arts (CCCA), 41 Second Street, Cambridge, MA 0214. Parking is free after 6pm – plenty of spots available on Cambridge and Second St. map

ADMISSION: Five-week-series $110 per person or $200 for a couple. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Small Group Intensive + Practica on **TUESDAYS, starting Nov 9, 2021**

These are small (6-12 participants), balanced, and focused classes with a lot of personal attention and detailed feedback from the teachers. The class is open to individual followers, individual leaders, and couples. All participants ** must register by Sunday, Nov 7** by the end of the day, but we suggest that you register early to help us create a role-balanced class. Those who register with a partner will obtain 10% discount. The class is followed by a free one-hour supervised practica.

5 Tuesdays, Nov 9 – Dec 7 (intermediate and up)

7 – 8 pm: “Ornamental Walks & Turns: From Simple to Complex”

In this series we will continue to move on two tracks: in the first part of the class we will explore how to create an enjoyable and attractive dance by using simple walking steps with adornments; in the second part we will explore the turn in tango starting from perfecting the technique of ‘all time’ half-turns  and moving to more complex concepts and combinations of social dancing

8 – 9 pm: Supervised practica
